when i'm wearing a thong
and driving along,
i'll put on a song hoping
i don't go wrong.
but what will it be?
what will satisfy me?
what can i hear
that will please both my ears?
then i heard a sound
and i looked all around
and i marvelled at the sounds
that were sounding abound.
who is this band,
i reached out with my hand,
to turn it loud making
myself the crowd.
the voice it just filled me
whilst the winter air chilled me
and drums and guitars
sent me towards the stars.
and all the camboobilies
and wibbilies and woobilies
gathered holding hands,
listening to this band.
and the who's down in whoville,
they called up sam i am...
and told him to hurry,
to hear this "pearl jam".
and sam, after listening
and clappiting and whistling,
raised up his head,
and here's what he said:
"i will listen to them on a boat
i will listen to them with a goat
i will listen to them with no clothes
i will listen to them with a rose
i will listen to them in my tree
i will listen to them with a bee
i will listen to them around the bend
i will listen to them with a friend
i like pearl jam, sam i am!"
and all the little who's they started singing,
the town bell was ringing and
all of them were joyed,
except one, who was annoyed...
it was the grinch, he was sleeping,
and he came a-creeping
to check out the noise
and scare the girls and boys.
but they didnt yell,
or laugh when he fell,
they just kept to the song,
and the grinch thought "something's wrong".
but then he started listening
and his eyes they were glistening,
they were singing you see,
a song from vitalogy.
and then something happened,
something amazing, you see,
the grinch's tiny vocal cords grew suddenly!
and he raised up his hands and with all of his heart,
he started to sing "corduroy," right from the start.
the who's were surprised
by the look in his eyes and the love in his voice
and the song of his choice.
but they were together, pearl jam brought them there,
that night under the stars in the cold winter air.
