lattegirl - BRAD'S SHOWBOX SHOW REVIEW

The Show Review, and for some, Stone’s Butt & Sexy Morning Hair Review.

I’m still reeling from the show last night so some of what I might say will probably sound… sappy. Ok, having said that – the show review.

The show was AWESOME! Shawn Smith is simply amazing to watch. I had never seen Brad perform before or Pigeonhed so had no idea what to expect from Shawn. He looked so natural onstage; I quite honestly have never seen anyone with such a relaxed stage presence. He obviously loved it up there and shmoozed with a few people in the crowd. I know this is sacrilegious, but I watched Shawn more than Stone. Brad had a couple extra people on stage. There was a bongo girl and an extra guitar player. Plus I don’t think that was Jeremy Toback on bass. I’m not sure though, it may have been. I’m not too familiar with what he looks like. Nothing too radical stands out in my mind about the other band members – Jeremy, Regan, and the extra guitar player. Bongo girl was interesting to watch. I could see her slapping away on those bongos but could never hear her! And ok, I know you all are just waiting for the Stone stuff so here goes. Stone was interesting to watch as well. Now I don’t really know what he’s like up on stage. I’ve seen Pearl Jam perform 3 times but that was a long time ago (mid-90’s) and my mind is apparently getting forgetful in it’s old age. So maybe he always did this on stage – he was turned to the side for the greater part of the show. Which actually worked to my advantage because I got to see his butt a lot. Side-note: I was about 30 feet away from the stage, standing up in the raised section of the club, and basically right in front of Stone, a little to his left. Ok, where was I? Oh yah, he was turned to the side. He sang a little bit on ‘Secret Girl’ but that was it I think. They played a good mixture of songs. Plenty of songs from ‘Shame’ and ‘Interiors’ plus a handful of new songs. I wish I knew the name of one of the new songs – it was great! Kind of a rockin’ tune reminiscent of early Pearl Jam I would say. And yes, they played ‘Nadine’. I was getting a little worried because the show was almost over and I still hadn’t heard my favorite song but then they did play it. I think it was like the second to the last song. They don’t know how close they came to hearing me scream “Play Nadine, oh sweet Jesus, just play Nadine.” All the songs were amazing. Shawn didn’t speak much. Only those few times when he was shmoozing. No one else ever spoke I think. On almost every song, they all changed instruments. That’s how random the show was. Slow song, fast song… Let’s see what else can I say about the show? I know what’s going to happen, the minute I send this off I’m going to think of a ton of other things to say. Ooh I know! Brad went off stage for a few minutes and during this time Shawn came out alone and played Mother Love Bone's ‘Crown of Thorns’. Have I mentioned how amazing this man is? I’m a new fan, definitely.

All right, now for Stone’s Butt and Sexy Morning Hair Review. I know some of you came here only for this so here goes. OMG the man has a nice butt. He has a really nice body too - I think the man’s been eating! He was looking fine. Stone is so cute. His hair: He had it. Full on SMH was happening. He kept trying to put it behind his ears but his bangs weren’t quite long enough to stick. But regardless, it still looks great on him. And special, just for SBO, honey, I got a good look at his butt. I did it just for you. It was looking fine. He was wearing faded Levi’s and a tan T-shirt it looked like. A few times Stone faced the audience but he had his eyes closed the whole time. I think he did anyway. I didn’t have my glasses on and it was kind of hard to see him clearly.

Ok I think that’s all I can remember right now about the show. I didn’t meet him. I just don’t have it in me to stand around by the backstage door or in the parking lot, wherever it is that one meets a musician. It was enough just to see Brad. That’s all I wanted. And I can die a happy woman now that I’ve seen them perform ‘Nadine’. Besides, when the show ended, all I wanted to do was get home, peel off my smoke-absorbed clothes, take a few Aspirin and crawl into bed. The smoke was seriously making me nauseous. I bought a shirt too! A long-sleeved blue number.

I wonder if BloodRats was able to get Stone’s pick? I’m anxious to read his review of the show.

That’s it for now! Hope you enjoyed my reviews.
